Wax Lot
Soy-coconut wax lot is recorded so texture, adhesion, and burn behavior can be compared between reorders.
Production Notes
Makana runs as a compact wholesale production room in Kailua, still hand pouring every batch but using the records, lead times, cure windows, and packing discipline that retail buyers need.
Weekly Pour Rhythm
House label wholesale runs under 288 units normally move through a 10 business day production lead time. Orders over 600 units are scheduled 4 to 6 weeks out depending on vessel inventory and fragrance oil availability.
The studio calendar is built around wax melting, vessel prep, pour sequence, cure time, labeling, carton staging, and pickup or shipment windows. It is slower than a rush promise and more useful to a buyer who plans to reorder.
Batch Record Anatomy
Soy-coconut wax lot is recorded so texture, adhesion, and burn behavior can be compared between reorders.
Oil lot, fragrance percentage, and scent name are written beside the vessel and wick combination.
Wick series and size stay attached to the vessel record, not guessed from memory during a busy pour.
Pour temperature, cure date, and inspector initials close the record before labels and cartons leave the room.
Testing Standard
Flame height and wick posture are checked over the burn cycle.
The wax pool must develop without overheating the vessel.
Visible soot and glass darkening are rejected during tests.
The scent is judged during burn, not from an unlit lid sniff.
Container heat is checked against the vessel and wick pairing.
Packing and Carton Protection
Oahu delivery is available from Kailua to Honolulu, Kapolei, Haleiwa, and Waimanalo for $35. Neighbor island orders ship by UPS or barge freight at cost. Cartons are packed for the route, not for a pretty unboxing photo.
Glass vessels are separated, case counts are checked against the invoice, and carton labels identify the product line, scent, and batch so a retailer can receive stock without opening every vessel on the counter.
Plain Sustainability Choices
Refill trials are tested slowly before being offered to wholesale accounts.
Clean cartons are reused inside the production workflow when they can still protect glass.
Fragrance oil limits are held even when adding more would make an unlit candle louder.
Customer supplied vessels are rejected unless testing can prove safe wick and heat behavior.
